Hi Chris thanks for getting back to us NG7 4AU, I have found out there is work going on at many transmitters (even though Waltham isn't listed directly) between the 11 and the 15th so they might be many changes going on and off, presumably for 5G and general maintenance.

You are quite correct that there is a lot of work going on at many main transmitters (and some relays) at present. At Waltham it won't have anything to do with 5G, the 700MHz clearance program for that was completed on the 4th March. This will be general maintenance as it will be for most transmitters.
Under normal circumstances you are predicted to get good reception of the SDN multiplex, in fact all multiplexes except COMs 7&8 which could be variable. You wouldn't do any better from the Nottingham relay except it doesn't have COMs 7&8, you should get excellent reception from Sutton Coldfield but that is West Midlands whereas Waltham is East Midlands so it depends which region you want.
As you mentioned, Waltham isn't on the list for this week, but I've been finding a number of cases recently where there's been reports similar to yours for other transmitters not on the current week's list, but where I recall the transmitter was on the previous week's list. I'm not at all convinced that the list is always accurate. I think I'll keep a copy of the previous week in future just for reference :o
Depending on what exactly they are doing at the transmitter (they never say) you may find things going off & on, or "weak signal" is the other possibility.

To add some more precise information about reception from Waltham, it may change when remaining 700MHz Clearance changes take place at the other remaining transmitters (likely due to co-channel interference) which has now been postponed due to the covid-19 situation. It depends on exactly where you are within your postcode (don't post that here).
If you put your details into the boxes on Platform management | Freeview it will take you directly to the Detailed View where you can see for yourself what's predicted.

Just this week seem to have lost all channels on ARQA, other channels/MUXes are all fine.
Signal strength is only 14% compared with 50%+ on other MUXes.
Waltham transmitter, wideband rooftop aerial feeding into a distribution amp feeding a freeview TV and PC DVB-T2 card. Both TV and card report no channels for ARQA only.
Removed distribution amp from path, no change.
Can't see any work planned on the normal websites and haven't connected anything new at home that would be blocking 602Mhz.
Strange.

If you look at the three or four posts before yours, you'll note mention of Engineering work that appears to be going on at Waltham, whereas the transmitter is not on the published list. As I have already noted incidents elsewhere where similar things are happening, one can only conclude that the list is not accurate - TBH, I've had a suspicion for some time that's the case.

Chris.SE: Yes, I was hoping maybe someone else running off the transmitter could see if they are affected in any way.
Some progress, I bought a new distribution amp/signal booster as my current one was very old and it has boosted the signal enough for my TV to scan the MUX now, although the quality is only around 15% it does show the programmes amazingly. Unfortunately my PC card still can't scan it, probably not as sensitive a tuner.
I can only think for some reason the transmit power for this MUX has been dropped down.

Simon: Yes indeed, Windows. It used to be called "mouse driver" by some MSDOS users! But I find Linux is pretty much back to DOS - and damned awkward as far as drivers. You could dual boot or run a portable bootable W8 off USB.

I have just replaced a panasonic tv with a smart sony kdl. On auto tune it does not show waltham as being available guiding me to yorkshire or cambridge. I have the correct aerial installed on the roof by a professional and all other tv's in my home get perfect reception as did the replaced set. I have tried manual digital tuning to no avail. Can you help in any way
