I have just changed my Sony Bravo to freeview. The picture quality is better than what I received from Virgin. When trying to view on catchup BBC works alright. With all ITV stations the menu comes up and allows selection, the logo and advertising plays you reach the program the title comes up but doesn't load. My set is a year old, and when I first loaded their apps about 4 days ago they all worked. With the rest of the download information displaying correctly I can't visualize it being a fault with my aerial or TV.

Graham Gittins: Your catchup service have nothing to do with your aerial, unless its a Youview TV, in which case its a hybrid.
Try updating the app - ITV has always been a bit of a pain, and if needed, perhaps a factory reset and install. If its an Android TV, then you should have Youview, and thats easier to acces.

From SY7 9 area: Why has my reception deteriorated in the past 2 months. Currently I can only get BBC1,2,ITV, 2,3,4 C4, E4 and more 4. retuning says 71 channels available, but are unwatchable because of pixellation.

Elizabeth Wright: You most likely have a fault with your aerial system, such as a loose or damaged cable or connection somewhere. Start by checking the cables behind your TV, then work your way back as far as you can safely access towards the aerial.

Why can't we have a simple list of the Freeview channels that aren't available from a given transmitter (e.g. Wrekin), in the form of the channel number followed by the name, in numerical order rather than grouped by technical spec, and information as to WHEN they WILL be available from that transmitter? I've looked at various sites, and can find neither a numerical list (only icons or at best names), nor the "when will it be available" info. I just wanted to find out whether I should be able to get channel 99, and if not then when WOULD I be able to.

Carole: Apart from Aj Jazeera (which is due to appear of COM6 soon) no broadcaster has made any announcement of when any of their channels will increase their coverage. In most cases they won't, as they simply aren't prepared (or can't afford) to pay the increased costs of broadcasting their channels on a multiplex with wider coverage. If you want a numerical list of channels, Digital UK has one at the link below, which also shows which channels are on which multiplex, so you can easily see which are available from your transmitter (The Wrekin does not have COM7 & COM8 and won't gain them at any point in the future, as both a temporary services which will close in the next few years).

I cannot access channels 20 or 21nor can my friend who lives 7 miles away. We've both re-tuned our boxes - taking out the aerial once' and re-tuning again with the aerial re-inserted. My address is 51 haygate Drive, Wellington, Telford Shropshire TF1 2BZ, and my friend's address is 23 Whitworth Drive, Randlay, Telford, Shropshire, TF3 2NN. We both receive our freeview channels from The Wrekin transmitter, and have previously received a good signal from both channel 20 and 21. Can you help, please?
Many thanks.

David Corbett:
Thgousands of people around your area have no problems with the signal from the Wrekin transmitter. I suggest you check all your aerial cables and connections. Unplug all the coaxial plugs/sockets and then refit them.
Also check that you have a suitable wideband aerial.
Plus you are rathger close to the transmitter at a distance of only 3 km. That suggests you may actually have too much signal and that will cause all sorts of problems, including those you report. So check the reported signal strengths, ideally they should be between 60% and 85% (no more and no less), then search this website to 'Too much of a good thing...' and follow that advice.

I have recently moved house to SY2 6JF and have my aerial pointing at the Wrekin transmitter. My old house at WV16 6TW also pointed at the Wrekin transmitter. My old house used to get Channel 4+1 HD and all the others perfectly fine.
I have pointed our Aerial to the same transmitter and re-tuned our TV in our new property it does pick up Channel4+1 as an option on our TV's guide but then when you select the channel is says no signal?
I don't understand why we could get it at our last property and we where much further away but can't get it now and we're much closer? I installed both Aerials myself so I know they where both definitely pointing at the Wrekin.
Surely if there wasn't any signal for Channel4+1 HD our TV would remove the channel? Even upon a retune the channel remains as does all the other channels in COM7 but the TV shows no signal what's all that about?
Any help would be most appreciated :)

AlexB: Channel 4 +1 HD is on the COM7 multiplex which has never been broadcast from The Wrekin. You must have been picking it up from another transmitter at your old house (probably Sutton Coldfield going by the Digital UK checker).
