The symbol shows the location of the The Wrekin (Telford and Wrekin, England) transmitter which serves 280,000 homes. The bright green areas shown where the signal from this transmitter is strong, dark green areas are poorer signals. Those parts shown in yellow may have interference on the same frequency from other masts.

Are there any planned engineering works or unexpected transmitter faults on the The Wrekin (Telford and Wrekin, England) mast?

Bill Pine: The channels for ArqA and ArqB change in September. That solves the problem for good - for viewers of The Wrekin and viewers of Cefn Mawr.

Steve

It does work with a coat hanger (picking up Cefn Mawr transmitter, 70% signal strength, 100% quality), and it even works with just the top metal part of the coat hanger. Funny how it does not pick the signal up with my outside aerial, although this aerial does point to the wrekin, the side parts of the aeriel do tend to point directly towards this local transmitter. I wonder if the aerial will pick up Cefn Mawr transmitter once the wrekin switches off 53 and 57 in Sept? Perhaps I should use the coat hanger if I need to watch the local news!!

BTW I am North-East of the Riverdee.

thodkin - I think you perhaps do not know about "polarisation". The radio waves are usually sent wobbling up and down (Horizontal Polarisation), which is what the sideways pointing aerial elements collect.

Fill-in transmitters like Cefn Mawr are deliberately set up with Vertical polarisation, so the aerial needs to be mounted with the rods up/down.

So your main ae is not only pointing the wrong way; it is also the wrong orientation.

Even then it might pick up a very local strong signal, but as there is a competing signal on the same frequencies that will be stonger, even though far furter away.
