David Rose: At that postcode, this change probably won't give you any more channels. The multiplex carrying Film4, ITV4, Yesterday (ArqB in the list above) moves to a different channel to get out of the way of Tacolneston's switchover; the power level remains the same. If you already get those channels, you will need to retune to keep them. The higher frequency used travels less well, so it's possible that, if your reception of them is a bit marginal, you could lose them or they become less reliable.
The final move is on 27 June 2012, after which Digital UK offer a prediction of 'good' for the SDN and ArqA multiplexes and 'variable' for ArqB. The final channels cannot be used yet as they are still in use at the Dover and Bluebell Hill transmitters.

I live in a small village just outside Maldon,Essex. My external ariel is no good. I have been told to get a Neostar transmitter (inside ariel) Does anyone know if this will work in my area?

mrskaye: If you want reliable digital television, you need to use Freesat. This will supply you with more channels than Freeview Light will provide for you in late June 2012.
Today, you will get no Freeview service at all, do not waste your money on any more aerials.

Hi.
I live in the SS4 3RZ postcode about 1 mile from the Rouncefell relay transmitter and have a roof top aerial pointed at Sudbury. I watch the Anglia region programmes.
Prior to the digital switchover in June/July I received all the Freeview channels without any problems.
Since the switchover Skynews has become a problem with one set able to receive it and two others not able.
Will the signal strength for this be increased by any of the future changes or have I got to change my aerial?

DaveP: Yes, the signals will improve on 27th June 2012. You do not need to do anything to your aerial.

andyboy: I suspect your aerial is not pointing at Sudbury, but another transmitter. If you want Freeview HD today, you need to ensure you are using the correct trasmitter.

Does anyone know what the re-tune event is for on 16th November? And will it affect me if I am getting my signal from Rouncefall rather than from Sudbury direct?

lisa: No, it will not affect Rouncefall broadcasts.
Sudbury's retune is because one of the commercial multiplexes is moving frequency: ArqB which carries Film4, ITV4, Yesterday and others.

lisa: It's very hard to say that you're 'on' Sudbury or Rouncefall, both have quite a large area of influence and the overlap area is large. If you do get ArqB on C50 now - the channels that Dave listed - you will lose them on Wednesday and will have to retune to get them back. If you don't get them now, you *might* get them by retuning on Wednesday. However, it remains on lower power, so you're still not predicted to get them (if you're still at the address you were before).
