Jeddy S: is on the COM8 which moved to UHF channel 56 on 21st March, which is well outside of the range that a Group A is designed to receive. If you don't have or , follow the link MikeP has posted and contact the Freeview Advice Line.

Thanks StevensOnln1, the information that moved to channel 56 is missing from the top of this page, maybe that could be updated by who-ever.
Having searched channel 56 I now have BBC Four HD again.

I can't see the post from Mike P that you refer to - I would be grateful if you could provide the link or tell me how to find it? Will MIke P's post also tell me how to contact Advice Line.

I'm tempted to say WTF is going on, but I won't. If I could only have one on my desert island, it would be BBC 4. Seems suspicious that I can still get Al Jazeera and in HD.

There is nothing suspicious about you being able to receive Al Jazeera HD and as these are on the COM7 which has not changed yet at (it is currently on UHF 31, but moves to UHF channel 55 on 2nd May).

It seems like for our postcode, SO534LN, we are stuffed for COM 7 and 8 with no predicted coverage according to the DigitalUK checker. Despite having a wide band on the , both my Samsung tv and Humax HD Fox failed to find BBC . Luckily iPlayer on the Samsung now allows us to watch from the start so we were able to catch Below The Surface, so all was not lost.

We either continue just to use iPlayer in this , or invest in a HD box (there is a installed and cabled to the lounge, but we've never used it). We use the Humax rarely now to record, the Humax HB-1100S would seem to fit the bill.

But why should I have to spend 100 quid when you have to question how the allocations for the muxes were arrived at. PSB3 looks to be the natural home for BBC 4 HD. I'm sure the average 4 year old is hardly aware of the subtleties of HD on . It also has a smaller and declining share of the viewing compared to BBC4 HD. Chop it at 7pm and share ithe bits with BBC4 HD. Why is +1 taking up space there? Punt it and CH 5 HD to the outer reaches of COM8 and all the BBC HD could reside on PSB3.

Like others, despite being told that we have a aerial, BBC4 HD cannot be tuned on channel 56. So, either our aerial is not wideband or we are being given the runaround by /BBC.

Thanks for replying. I won't miss Al Jazeera and in HD when they move to 55.

I did a manual tune, and nothing was found for 55 and 56.
Other comments make me wonder whether a change of would make any difference (in SO23 9TA). Unless this is the thin end of the wedge in terms of moving out of the range of pre- aerials.

I found that an automatic tune of some of my boxes did not find on ch56 and I also noticed that for a manual tune on 2 of my boxes I had to explicitly select DVB-T2 (rather than the default of DVB-T) to find BBC Four HD etc.
I wonder if others have a simliar option / problem?

If your is a Group A type it will not receive 55 or 56. There is no such thing as a 'pre ' aerial, all UHF aerials will work with Freeview provided they cover the required range. A Group A aerial is suitable for all channels between 21 and 38 (as has always been the case). That is why we contributors have been recommending for quite some time that people have a type aerial fitted so they can get all the available channels now and into the foreseeable future.

If your aerial is a Group A type and you do not have and/or , then contact Freeview at https://www.freeview.com/…nges and look in the FAQ section. They may offer to replace your aerial free of charge if you meet the requirements. They will fit a wideband type at no cost to you, if you qualify.
