Transmitter engineering:
Both my neighbour and I are getting occasional breaks in Freeview transmission which affect BBC1 and most other channels. Both on a TV and PVR. The only way to recover is to switch off the device and on again, when the channels are OK. The only common factor is that these are all on Humax devices, if that is relevant.
The screen goes blank and sometimes has a 'no signal' display.
This is on two of my sets on separate aerials.
Is something going on which the broadcaster is not aware of?

Hi- I live on the Isle of Wight and I have just updated my freeview channels after a notification to do so. However, my dvd recorder now has no channels or EPG on it, I have done all the reset procedures and taken it back to shipping condition but no joy, any help would be appreciated

-D: isn't it infuriating that getting info is so hard? Freeview told me at one stage to get an aerial engineer ! - now that its being looked into - so whats the latest I wonder?

Christine Green: If you looked at this website, the best information was that the transmitter was working normally, and I suspect that 'Freeview' had exactly the same info, so their suggestion was reasonable (I gave the same advice). Transmitters seldom have many problems, but serve a wide area. Even if 99.9% of viewers are getting a perfect service, that leaves a surprising number of people who have a problem. Except that problem is normally their aerial, not the transmitter.

Its only when lots of people note the same problem that its clear that there is a common problem, and by the looks of it, there problem lasted from the early evening until the next lunchtime. These things happen, and it would be interesting to know what the problem was, but its not the end of the world.

MikeB: - no thanks for that-I do know what the difference is between the end of the world and an annoying fault- what is frustrating however is being unable to get info from freeview, and what is also frustrating .is that several neighbours with their own aerials and the same fault, don't seem to deserve any comment other than " try retuning" and " get an engineer. As it turned out there WAS a fault, and oh now BBC channels have been missing for 24 hours instead, Freeview are saying everything they said the other day- so yes I am annoyed,on many levels,as you may just guess, although I am in fact aware, the world has not ended.
