Colin1951uk: I don't think the issue is with your equipment.
I have a 4:3 CRT TV with Sony RDR-HXD870 PVR set for 4:3 letterbox and RT has appeared as anarmorphic 4:3 widescreen for several days now - that is the 16:9 picture it fills the 4:3 screen with no black bars, so figures on the screen are squashed and are tall and thin.
A 16:9 LG TV shows Film4+1 as 14:9.
I receive my TV from Emley Moor.

Dave Lindsay: we live in brookvale runcorn our free view HD signal from winter hill is interupted every time a plane drops low to land at Liverpool airport have checked on flight radar and visually out of our lounge window.

It appears this is a nationwide glitch then so I wonder what's going on?
I'll try a bit of Googling and see if I can find anything that might throw some further light on it.

Colin1951uk: As I said on another thread, my CRT/digibox setup seems to be going to widescreen as standard, rather than 4:3. Thats fine. However, my wife was recording a programme on 4-7 (Com 6) earlier this evening , and my Sony HXD895 was recording it in exactly the same way that Dave Lindsay described. Since I'm getting signals from Waltham, I think your right, its a national thing.

Hello all,
I'm in the SO30 (Hedge End) area and have had good reception from Rowridge until recently when all COM 5 (ArqA) channels I watch started pixelating and then dropped out. I have tried the full re-install on both the Samsung TV and Sagem HDD recorder without sucess. I have looked for causes of single channel interference but found nothing wrong.
Has anyone else using this transmitter experienced the same problem?

hi,
all muxes have been working fine.
if an obstruction has been built in your line of sight to the transmitter this could be causing the issue you are having. if you can access your aerial you should try to move it, even a few feet left or right can clear the view of an obstruction.

I am a local installer and would say its better to use VP rather than HP.
HP will be having more channels available than VP, however these channels are outputted at very low strengths so you may struggle to receive them without a high gain aerial and amplification.
VP is far superior in reception, you are now able to fit much smaller aerials without the need for amplification, which in turn means less wind load, less chance of storm damage and less chance of issues such as amps tripping out.

The problem with VP and the Rowridge transmitter is that if you want to watch BBC FOUR HD (and others on the com7 mux / C31), then you have to have HP. This I realised was the problem with my aerial in my loft, as it was set up as VP and so I would never have got all these great HD channels. So I shifted my aerial from VP to HP, and can now watch C31. The only downside to this is that my hard-drive tuner cannot now tune in to Channel 5 (although it can see Channel 5 +1) although my TV tuner CAN still see Channel 5... go figure!
