Dave: If you look at the radiation pattern of the local mux from Whitehawk Hill you will see that there is in fact a null in the direction of Patcham, which as I understand it is the area served by the Patcham relay.
(Go to the Whitehawk page and click "LBNV" on the map and you will see what I mean.).
