Live in South Oxfordshire. Both my DAB Radios were receiving perfectly until Yesterday, now only receiving Classic FM and a couple of others. Is the Transmitter down? In particular No Radio4 or 4Extra

Well update neighbors do have a tv and a phone and base station next to the wall, however they have said they cannot move the base as the wires for it are now under there new floor so looks like i am stuck with this issue if this is the issue. They have stated they can remove the phone from the base and move it bit i don't think that will help if it is this interference I am seeing as when the phone talks with the base it will come back.
maybe i will have to buy a freeview box and keep it low like the one i borrowed, or is there any easy way of shielding the the coax and the back of the tv, i would have thought they should already be shielded anyway for these kinds of issues, the tv is Sony so i would expect a high standard of shielding.

rob: Base stations are capable of causing interference to certain types of receiving devices irrespective of whether or not the base station is being communicated with, albeit that the level of interference usually always increases during the times that it is.
However, although the source of your problem is most likely to be that of your neighbours base station it would still have been beneficial to have had this 100% verified "if" your neighbours were agreeable to killing the base stations power supply for about a minute whilst you are witnessing the interference refered to, the outcome of hopefully elimating any doubts that might exist as to the source of the problem.
You can though try a test of your own by switching your TV over to "analogue" mode and then carrying out an auto-tune, paying particular attention if the scanning operation hessitates (or stops) on reaching channel 60, analogue being a better mode for sniffing out some types of interference.
By the way, although not absolutely necessary, but its best to carry out the test using a short length of wire (about 24") connected into the aerial socket of your Sony.

Jb38, thanks again for your help on this matter, i have borrowed a freeview hd box an alba stb300hd, the one which says do not buy. However i have plugged in the hdml and my Ariel lead at a lower level on top of my dvd recorder.
now i have all the channels and all are working fine, when i tried my Sony dvd as a set top box as it has one inbuilt it suggested a very low signal and only picked up 5 stations.
Very puzzling, and the alba stb seems to suggest the signal is 100 % and the quality is 10 on some channels and 40 on others, however the picture seems fine to me and if anything better than the Sony.
little worried if a buy one to replace the borrowed the problem will return.

rob: If the Alba is only indicating a quality reading of 10 on some channels and 40 on others then you should check what the indications are when connected into your bedroom TV outlet, because "if" you are referring to this reading being seen on a scale of 100? then 75+ is more in line with what it should be as the quality should always be higher than the strength.
Further info dependant on the outcome of the test.

Yep thought the same jb, picture seems ok however at the moment, will try it out tomorrow on another ariel / tv. Not sure the figure can be right, 100% signal and 10 % quality would have glitching all over the place.

rob: Yes, I also had suspicions that the quality and strength readings might have been accidentally reversed.
Anyway, you can maybe give an update if you manage to try the box out on another aerial.

I will do jb, however i still would not expect 100% signal with 10% signal, all seems a little strange that said when i plugged the logic 19 inch flat screen into the Ariel socket i had 100% quality and 0% signal on the screen and how in hell would that work and it did not name the region. However when i plugged it in at the Ariel point (run from point on wall under floor to Sony tv) showed signal at 60% and quality at 80 or higher and it identified the region.
Not sure what's going on there, is something strange happening in the cable under the floor?
All very weird.
