Terry:
It's possibly the Tropospheric Propagation/Temperature Inversion due to current weather conditions Effect of tropospheric ducting on Freeview | Help receiving TV and radio which is resulting in interference from distant transmitters. As you have retuned you may have picked up signals from a distant transmitter and have to retune again as conditions change.

I have problems with the Sony channels on Freeview with a weak signal. My almost new Panasonic TV shows the signal strength in the low 20%. Shows up as channel 30 - 546 MHZ I have done several retunes with no improvement. All other channels show up in the high 90% to 100% signal strength range. I have a brand new aerial on the roof.
Thanks for your help.

Roger Hatherall: Sony Channel and Sony Movies Classic are broadcast on the local TV multiplex, which is broadcast from Mendip but only directionally towards Bristol and is not predicted to be available at your postcode, so you are actually doing well to get anything from it at all. Retuning will not help as you already have the channels tuned (retuning just deletes your channel list and searches for everything again, which will never fix a weak signal).

Roger Hatherall:
You might be able to see which programmes are on which multiplex from one of your tuning section menus, but if you don't have such an option, see Channel listings | Freeview

I wish to use a normal analogue modulator with a Freeview recorder on my aerial system. What frequency can I set the modulator to so that it doesn't interfere with the present mendip transmitted channels?

Michael Salway:
Mendip uses the following channels C30, C32, C33, C34, C35, C36, C48, C55, C56
You can pick a free channel, but as you may know it's best to avoid channels where an adjacent channel or C+5 or C+9 might interfere. Personally I would pick a high channel well above C56 - as high as you like! Another thing to watch is that your modulator signal isn't too strong and doesn't desensitise your tuner's front end. If it's not adjustable and you have a problem then perhaps try a variable attenuator.

Can anybody help? First of all my postcode SN15 3EF. I have a year old Hisense H50U7A (not a bad picture as long as it's watched square on) and I would like to receive Sony "Classic" movie channel. I can get all other Freeview channels except that one. It supposed to be on channel 50. I have retuned several times usually a month or two apart.
