Aaron:

I'm currently watching Bates Motel on BBC One HD and don't seem to be experiencing any issue at the moment. It could be a local transmitter issue, I'd think the best way to get some help if it's only BBC HD channels is to get someone to contact BBC Engineering on your behalf on 03700 100123. They say they aren't answering calls at present but will call back, so a message explaining your problem and being deaf along with a phone number so they can speak to someone. They may be able to provide an email address for you to contact them further.

The thought did occur to me as to whether it may be a signal issue. Have a look in your TV Tuning section for the Signal Strength and Quality for the UHF channel that has your HD channels. The Quality should be 100%.

Chris.SE: Thanks Chris, was this on the Heathfield transmitter when you watched BBC One HD? I will see if I can get someone to call up BBC Engineering for me, alternatively I have found a BBC form at Tell the BBC | Help receiving TV and radio I can use to report this.

I watched the signal quality screen for a while and it did not dip below 100% at any point for frequency 47. Strength was at 48-50%.

No, it wasn't Heathfield. If it's persisting, does this occur at all times of day, or just during specific periods? Have you changed anything electrical or had any electrical problems when this started two months ago? Anything external that you may have noticed - a faulty street light for example that's coming on and going off when it shouldn't, or come to that anything of yours?

Whilst 48-50% should not be a problem, it might mean any electrical interference could more readily affect you. If you provide a full postcode, we can look at the predicted reception for your locale.

Try that BBC form as well and see what response you get.

I'm pretty sure it's a transmitter fault now, I went to my parent's property in Hailsham yesterday morning (they're 10 miles away from me and they're situated much closer to the transmitter), I experienced the same subtitle issue when I watched BBC One HD.

I will make a phone video recording of this issue as well as explaining this is occurring in more than 1 property, miles apart, on the BBC form tonight. That should be more than enough information for them to investigate I hope. Thank you for your assistance Chris

No problem. IF it ever turns out that you find you aren't being given the right help by the BBC, do post back with detail about the help and answers they've provided.

Sorry forgot to say that the post immediately before your last shows the transmitter is having Planned Engineering, so maybe this is an issue that will be dealt with (we hope), but still contact them just in case.

Got a response today:

"We apologise for the delay in getting back to you whilst our engineers were trying to investigate what has been happening.

We have heard back from them today and they said:-

"The cause was a failure in a piece of equipment which was fixed on 21st August. We're working with the supplier to see what we can do to stop it happening again."

We hope the issue is now resolved and thank you for bringing this to our attention. Please do let us know if it happens again."

Apparently it was fixed on 21st august, I think I've been on iPlayer mostly in the past week so will need to recheck.
