Instead of all this guesswork and us all wading through, with the greatest of respect guys, techies lamenting about signal strengths and mux waveform readings a simple SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT, somewhere on the web, would be nice saying 'please bear with us, we hope to resume a service by 6pm today' or something. Why is common sense is too simplistic?
SO Hannington / BBC South Today boffins if you are reading this we are your customers that have to pay you a licence fee so how about it please? ITS CALLLED CUSTOMER SERVICE!

6pm, thank you - at last some proper info, I hadn't spotted that anywhere, missed it, sorry guys.
I was too busy doing 12 attempted factory resets and making phone calls to aerial providers who are all curiously on answerphone today and 'unavailable to comment' I can at last take a break! Phew!
Now then, how to I re-tune iplayer to get Fawlty Towers...anyone?!
