Hi. I am having a problem tuning my Technika TV to receive a new station That's Surrey. I have completed a factory reset and attempted to retune a number of times. This prompts my to ask as to which aerial I should be using vertical or horizontal. The existing aerial is mounted on the side of my property at GU7 3PT which has visual sight of the transmitters on the Hogs Back Guildford which I would think is appropriately 2.5 miles away if that.
A further oddity is that my Smart Samsung which is connected to a roof aerial directed to Crystal Palace London picks up the Thats Surrey signal but a Sony Smart TV and a Hitachi Freeview box all connected to the same roof aerial as the Samsung will not tune no matter how much I retune each of the sets.

Chris Warner:
The Guildford transmitter is not on the Hogs Back but near to Guildford Cathedral. The aerial masts you see on the Hogs Back are for non-TV communications. Have a look at the 'Freeview Map' link below your post: Freeview reception at GU73 PT.
The Guildford transmitter uses vertical polarisation. From the listing available, Guildford does not carry That's Surrey but Crystal Palace does. How well you can receive those signals is uncertain. You would need a different aerial with the rods horizontal and aimed at 54 degrees East, the transmitter is some 45 km away so a high gain aerial would be needed. See the 'digitaluk trade' link below your post: Coverage Checker - Detailed View

I am tuned to the Guildford transmitter and I seem to be getting "That's Surrey" in my post code(GU48NH). Good reception. I assumed that I was getting it from Guildford. Am I wrong?

What multiplex channel number are you getting it on? The listing of what is transmitted from Guildford does not mention That's Surrey, but it may be on one that does not have a complete listing.

MikeP: That's Surrey is broadcast from the Guildford transmitter on C51 and not Crystal Palace, which is confirmed by the Digital UK postcode checker for the postcode given by Mike O'Sullivan. The final few local TV multiplexes which have launched over the last few months don't appear to have been added to the transmitter maps on here yet.
