We regular contributors to this website have often stated that the site can only be updated by the owner, who appears not to be available at present. If you want accurate channel data go to the Digital UK Coverage Checker at Digital UK - Coverage checker and enter the required information.

Tom Burns:

Put your post code into the Digital UK Coverage Checker at http://www.digitaluk.co.u…ker. That will tell you which channels are in use for the available trasnmitters.

It is wise to use a wideband aerial these days as there are likely to be further changes at many transmitters.

The services of COM7 and COM8 are temporary and will be phased out of the coming few years as more transmitters are converted to provide DVB-T2 transmissions as that can deliver HD as well as more data and channels.

Gary Steven: There hasn't been an upgrade to the transmitter, there was a change in frequencies as part of the plans to clear the 700MHz band which will be handed over to the mobile networks starting in 2020. Have you checked for any loose or damaged cables or connections behind your TV? Please provide a full postcode so that we can see where you are in relation to the transmitter and your predicted coverage etc.

Hello, I live in the G20 0LA district of north Glasgow and due to my location I am on the wrong side of a hill which blanks out coverage from the Blackhill main transmitter and consequently my signal derives from the Darvel transmitter. Until the retune on 6th sept 2018 and I had a fairly good signal and got most of the freeview channels but since then many of the channels have gone and others are very patchy.

I have checked all my connections and they are fine, it would seem the the signal output strength has dropped, can anything be done to correct this as it is most annoying.

thank you,

Terry Meehan

Terry Meehan:

You need to have a wideband aerial fitted to get all the signals from the Darvel transmitter. It uses channels between 22 and 56, which needs the wideband aerial to get all of those channels. There has been no change to the output power of the transmitter. It is predicted that the ARQA, COM7 and COM8 signals could be somewhat variable, probably due to the terrain.

Thanks Mike for your reply. While I follow what you have said the thing I don't understand is why when everything was perfectly acceptable before the Sept retune it should change so much for the worse thereafter.

It would seem that short of purchasing New equipment and having it fitted is my only option and that will not come cheap.

This recent retune has lost me a large part of my service and is most regretable.

Terence Meehan: If you've lost service on any channels due to a recent frequency change and don't have satellite or cable then you should be eligible to have a replacement wideband aerial fitted free of charge, which can be arranged by contacting the Freeview Advice Line (see link below).
