Help my tv screen went gray last night and I lost picture, but still have sound. When I changed channels the writing on the screen telling me info is all in a forgein language, either polish of russian. Have tried to re-set but insturctions coming up in either of these langauges. Are there any problems with the transmitter. Honestley I haven't been on the sauce.

BigDave: I live approx 25 miles (Lenzie) from Blackhill transmitter with line of site on a good day. I have a Panasonic FreeviewHD TV. During the period mentioned about variable HD reception the signal strength on my set has remained at maximum even through the very poor weather of late. No problems with picture or sound quality on the HD or SD channels since TV purchased a year ago.

Jean: This could possibly be suggestive of a serious problem having developed with your TV's operating system, pity you hadn't mentioned the brand / model involved as it might have been possible to have checked this out.
The only thing you can really do is to leave the set unplugged from the mains supply for about 5 minutes or so before powering it up again when hopefully it might come back on with whatever showing in English, if it does immediately carry out a factory re-set, this maybe called "default setting" depending on the brand of set.

I know now its definitely not the transmitter but I still think its the weather. It must be affecting my particular signal path in some way.

Brian: The signal path is uneffected, however, the usual issue is rainwater getting into your cables.

I have very low signal on BBC Radio 2 and 3, no more than 29dB (usually I have 65dB), is it temporary?

Greg: You do not say whether it is Freeview reception on your TV or FM radio reception that is showing a low signal strength. If it is FM radio a BBC reception report shows both Radio 2 and Radio 3 from Black Hill have a weak signal since 15:00 on 5th January 2012.

ON FREEVIEW - At the moment I have a problem with CH 5* STV &ITV 3 the picture is very scrambled and the sound is all mixed up this is on 2 TV's we have re tuned but no luck and the aerials are ok. Can you help.
