Richard Cooper: Hi Richard, the culture minister Ed Vaizey has said that a decision on switchover will be taken by the Government when overall digital listening reaches 50%. At the present rate of growth this is expected to be achieved in late 2017 or early 2018 (it's currently 44%). The three analogue commercial radio licences (Classic FM, Talksport & Absolute Radio) expire in 2023, so it's possible that switchover could take place during that year, with an announcement being made in 2018.

Richard Cooper: There will not be a Kings Lynn/West Norfolk DAB multiplex, the official Now Norwich DAB multiplex area has now been expanded to cover the whole of the county. The present local DAB expansion funding agreement only covers the heritage FM station areas, so this is the area covered by Heart Norfolk (formerly Broadland). The west of the county will only be covered by Now Norfolk after a new funding arrangement is agreed, probably after a digital switchover decision (expected in 2018).
