There is a huge gap between Sutton Coldfield and Waltham that's not going to get a local service from ether transmitter, and I bet its not the only area that will have nothing so I beg the question "what's the point"????

But not Leicester or Derby for example. Most of what is going to come from Waltham will only cover Market towns and the North West Fens. So I ask again Whats the point. Wouldnt a red button service have been a better option?

There must be a lot of highly populated areas that are going to get nothing then, so how can it be called a local service, if a lot of locals cant get it? This is why I cant see the point.

I just think its the same as freeview has always been, to much of a compromise. As long as most are OK sod the rest. Lets hope the wildlife on the fens enjoy the local service.

I wonder what the people of Kings Lynn will make of a "local" service from Nottingham!

DAB sound quality it very poor compared to FM. A lot of stations and radio's are in Mono, hello it's 2013! The biggest problem with DAB is the same as digital TV you either have a signal or you don't. I can put up with hiss on FM in bad areas I can't put up with the on off on off of DAB. FM struggles in most city's so DAB stands no chance, or are they planing to build lots of new transmitters??

A £20 DAB radio! and just how long will that last in this throw away society?

It will also not replace the quality of the car radio or even work in the car. Nor will it come anywhere close to the main stereo in the living room. and what about the other 7 radios I have in the house? I don't want to listen in MONO.

If we have to have DAB forced upon us, has no one considered making DAB boxes that can be used at home like the ones for cars?

What kind of sound quality is a £20 DAB radio going to give? probably the same as a £5 FM radio will, in other words crap. If the BBC stop transmitting on FM I will stop listening simple as that.

Watch lots of bbc thanks. I will not be buying additional equipment to allow me to listen to BBC radio if they stop broadcasting on FM, the radios that are available for £20 are MONO. so it dosnt mater what is broadcast at them they will always be mono. Progress?? I don't think so more like a step back.
