To deal with the problem you must clear the channel list completely and then rescan - if your box has it in the menus, please the 'installation menu' to do an initial scan or a reset to factory settings or First Time Installation. You MUST delete the entire existing list of channels. On most boxes this technique can be also be used:

Try this:

1) unplug your Freeview box (or idTV) from the mains;

2) unplug the aerial from the Freeview box by disconnecting the cable from the 'RF in' socket;

3) wait 30 seconds;

4) plug Freeview box (or idTV) mains back in;

5) do a complete scan for channels - it will fail without the aerial. (This may be in the installation or initialization menu, and is distinct from any 'add channels option'). Once this is done your channel line up should be empty;

6) reinsert aerial by reconnecting to the 'RF in' connection;

7) do a complete scan for channels again.

The Freeview channel line-up provided by six "multiplexes" - each of which carry five or more TV channels, radio channels, text services and EPG data. In this diagram each ROW represents a multiplex. If you are still missing a whole multiplex (ie everything on the row) you may need to replace your aerial with a wideband type, purchase a larger aerial or you may have interference from a VCR, games console, Sky Digibox or similar.

Colin.Burham,ME1 3SJ.As you reside within 2 miles of the main Bluebell Hill transmitter itself a Log Periodic which is a group W wideband aerial anyway,will be sufficient,or if you are fortunate enough either a set-top aerial or even a metal coathanger or small screwdriver stuck into your appliance's aerial socket should do as well.If on the other hand you live low down in a valley and normal reception is problematic then possibly as a last resort a good quality group B or semi-wideband group E Yagi 18B (yellow tipped) or Yagi 18E (brown tipped) are alternatives.
However looking thru google maps around your postcode locality there is a lack of external terrestrial aerials in view,this could give an indication of a strong terrestrial TV reception you are location in as such.
One ultimate point though,concerning the ArqB multiplex on frequency 54 from Bluebell Hill mast that yourself and Hilary who resides nearby herself (probably in ME1 3SJ herself too) and maybe a few others are experiencing difficulties as such,one possibility here could be a single frequency interference issue as such,or the recent settled weather that much of South-East England enjoyed experienced atmospheric or the inversion effect which may have played a part in the difficulties concerning the ArqB/COM6 multiplex on frequency 54 from Bluebell Hill.

Michael: Whether a box needs retuning when at a different location depends on whether it is the same transmitter that is being used because it is the transmitter's signals to which it tunes to that matters.

If your next door neighbour is using a different transmitter to you and you want to take your TV round to theirs, then you will have to retune.

If you are using a high power transmitter that covers a large area, you might go 100 miles to another location which receives from the same transmitter and hence won't need to retune.

Tony C: Advice can only be given on queries of this sort with knowledge of your location, this being in the form of a post code or one from nearby (e.g: a shop) as that will then enable the signals levels expected at wherever you are to be assessed, as what you mention could indicate that you are possibly located close to a main station and suffering from an excessively high signal level which is blocking reception.

Freeview was working fine when I last checked about 2 weeks ago. I only use freeview in my office. The tv is connect to a newish Humax box and the message current displayed is "The receiver is not receiving a signal or the signal is to weak".
I have performed all the usual checks. I check the aerial is still on my roof. The aerial is still connected via the cable. The cables and connectors all appear fine and in good order. I have restarted the box and done the rescan and all that usual stuff. Any help/advice would be welcome.

Dave contacted landlord and so have several others at this pcode they will look into it for us, as to taking tv around to neighbours did this and retuned not successful at all put film 4 on higher channel loaded 103 channels, brought tv back home swithed on tuned to film 4 weak or no signal same on all the group 54 channels now puzzeled, but saying that neighbour does say that her picture pixleates and freezes when on thoes channels, i may still get another aerial mounted on our wall as a back up i take it this would be a suitable one,,

I live in the SW2 area, after the switchover I've lost all the HD channels (which perfectly worked BEFORE the switchover) like BBC HD and so on. I have tried to re-scan the channels as described here but no way. What could have happened? How can I fix this?
Many thanks
