published on UK Free TV

German TV channels are on the Astra 1 satellites at 19.2E, and are owned by SES Astra of Luxembourg.

UK digital switchover has occurred on satellite - all UK services are digital and are at 28.2E (on Astra 2A, 2B and 2D satellites).

The changeover from analogue terrestrial to Freeview is completely independent of both of these services, and is a decision of the German TV companies.

Brian please advise how do I can tell if it's Analogue Receiver. All I know that it's Manhattan STB.
Also could we use a Humax FreeSat receiver and retune it?

Customer has a Sky free-to-air digital satellite receiver.

Richard: The bit on the end of the name is not DV3, but DVB, "digital video broadcasting".

I'm glad I found this form.
Until last weekend I was able to receive most German regional channels , plus das Erste, ZDF and 3 SAt. ( I had lost ARTE some time ago)
Now I also lost most except 3sat.( as of Saturday)
My set up is a digital satelite receiver package , ie with dish, I once bought, [probably at Lidle. It is a Silvercrest,
digitalen Sateliten REceiver, model SL65.

It would be a relief , if it is only a question of retuning to recieve those channels listed above.
Any comments about ARTE reception?
I live in South East England, ie Southend on Sea,
Thank you for your help.

klaus Kadur: Loss of reception would have nothing to do with changes to UK broadcasting. I would suggest retuning. You may also be able to pick up some of the channels on the internet (including Arte). Also try which has up to date details of both satellites and the channels available on each.

Klaus Kadur: All German channels on 19°E are as before. I have the same receiver which continues to receive all SD channels. ARTE changed frequencies some time back. Am Besten vorab alles lschen und neu installieren! With luck, that will solve the problem. Other possible cause:
Fault in V/H voltage supply to LNB. If the channels you still receive are either all V or all H polarised, either the LNB or the receiver has a fault. In that case, first replace the LNB. If that doesn't work, your receiver may need replacement. Any basic sat receiver will do the same - eg Technomate TM-5200D. An HD sat receiver is hardly worth the outlay as there are few free-to-view HD channels - most are subscription. Gru, Michael.

James D : Yes you can, but only the Humax or Technisat receivers ("Freesat" boxes other than those mentioned do not have diseqc switching) a necessary requirement.- in non Freesat mode and your dish would need re-aligned. Alternaively you would require a Triax 54cm or 64cm dish dependent on where you live in the UK with an adjustable LNB attachment that allows for two LNB's to be set up to teceive - (A) The satellite cluster at 28 degrees South East and (B) the Astra satellite positioned at 19 degrees South East.
Whilst a SKY/Freesat dish and LNB would work at a fixed alignment on 19 degrees East these oval shaped dish antennas and LNB's are specifically designed for that purpose hence my recommendation as aformentioned.

James D - Alternaively you could go for a an FTA free to air multi sat receiver. - this option pluse that already set out in my previous post are going in involve a moderate financial outlay if you want the option of UK and German channel reception.
