Freeview Engineering Channel will close for London Olympics and Paralympics
From 10pm on 25th July 2012 until 6am on the 15th August 2012, the Freeview Engineering Channel will be take off-air.
To remove the risk of problems with Freeview reception during the London Olympics and Paralympics games, no set-top box updates will be provided.
The Engineering Channel provides set-top box updates on PSB1 (Mux1) and PSB3 HD for Freeview and Freeview HD boxes.
The normal schedule for the service is shown on the Freeview and Freesat set-top box updates page.
Big Mart: The Freeview Engineering Channel isn't really a channel. It's a data stream carrying software updates for various Freeview TVs, set-top boxes and PVRs. It's not allocated a channel number, it's just attached to 105 BBC Red Button, itself not really a channel in any traditional sense, although it can be selected from the EPG or by typing the channel number in.
The list of updates being broadcast can always be found at Freeview and Freesat set-top box updates | ukfree.tv - independent free digital TV advice or DTG :: DTT Receiver Downloads .
